CNC error compensation is the correction of machine deviations on the CNC control side — e.g. positioning or backlash compensation tables. It can be very effective, but only if the error is repeatable and measured. That is why our role starts with an assessment: whether the errors of this particular machine are suitable for compensation and what such a correction will actually deliver — and what it will not. We qualify the scope of work individually and each time agree the procedure with the client.

- plants where the dimensional error is stable and repeatable — a candidate for program correction,
- companies whose service proposes “compensation” without showing input measurements,
- buyers of a used machine who want to know whether its errors can be corrected or require mechanical repair,
- maintenance departments considering compensation as an alternative to costly repair.
When to consider it
When measurement shows a systematic, repeatable error — e.g. a constant position offset along an axis or backlash of a stable value. Not when the error is random, temperature-dependent or results from worn guideways — compensation for such a problem will “mask” the symptom, but the machine will still be worn. What the scope covers
- input measurements: positioning, repeatability, backlash — without them there is no responsible compensation,
- assessment of which errors can be corrected in the CNC control of the given machine,
- recommendation of compensation scope or refusal with justification when errors require mechanical repair,
- within the agreed scope and after agreeing the procedure — support in preparing compensation data,
- verification measurement after the corrections are entered.
What the scope does not cover — honestly
- we do not offer CNC control error compensation as a standard service — each time this requires agreement on scope, procedure and responsibility for compensation entries in the control,
- we do not guarantee that after compensation the machine will achieve a specific accuracy,
- compensation does not repair mechanics — worn guideways or ball screws still require service,
- we do not issue calibration certificates.

What the client receives — technical report
The report shows results before compensation, an assessment of the possibility of correction, the scope of agreed actions and — after their execution — verification results. This means the decision to compensate is documented and reversible in a controlled way (compensation entries in the CNC control should always be archived before change).

Frequently asked questions
Does compensation “repair” the machine?
No. It corrects the effect of repeatable errors on the CNC control side. The mechanical cause — if present — remains and may deepen.
Do you enter compensation entries in the CNC control?
Only after agreeing the scope and procedure with the client — this is not the default action. We always start with measurements and documentation of the initial state.
What if the errors are too large for compensation?
The report will state this directly — together with a recommendation for mechanical repair. An honest refusal is part of the service.
