Machine Types

The measurement scope is qualified per machine type, goal and on-site conditions.

Why the machine type matters

A machine cannot be assessed “for accuracy” in general terms — every type has its own kinematics, typical wear patterns and critical parameters. The scope of an inspection is therefore always qualified for the specific machine type and goal.

Machine types we work with

  • CNC machining centres and milling machines — axis geometry, squareness, spindle runout, tool-change repeatability.
  • CNC lathes — axis positioning, spindle runout and alignment, bed geometry.
  • Gantry machines and boring mills — positioning errors that grow with travel range.
  • Cutting machines (laser, waterjet, plasma, routers) — contour accuracy, axis dynamics and portal geometry.
  • Nesting machines — positioning and repeatability over the full sheet.
  • CMMs and positioning tables — within an individually agreed scope.

What can be assessed

  • Axis positioning and repeatability
  • Reversal error (backlash) and lost motion
  • Selected geometry parameters (straightness, squareness, levelling)
  • Mechanical condition through visual inspection — guideways, screws, spindle, covers
  • Documentation and history — counters, alarms, service records

What a measurement does not cover

Not every parameter can be measured on every machine — access to axes, guarding, the ability to power the machine and hall conditions all limit the scope. The scope depends on the machine, the goal, on-site conditions and available equipment, and is agreed before the visit. We do not perform formal ISO calibration and do not issue calibration certificates — the deliverable is a technical report.
