Laser Measurement of CNC Machines
Laser interferometer-based measurement of positioning accuracy and repeatability of CNC machine axes. This service is performed after agreeing the scope and availability — feasibility depends on the machine, the goal, on-site conditions and available equipment.
What laser measurement shows
- Positioning accuracy of linear axes
- Repeatability of positioning
- Reversal error (backlash)
- Changes over time — e.g. a comparison before and after a service intervention
When it makes sense
- After a relocation or reinstallation of the machine
- After a collision or a major repair
- Periodic accuracy monitoring of production machines
- Acceptance of a machine together with the seller
The scope is qualified individually
Not every machine and every environment allows laser measurement. Before we confirm the engagement, we verify the machine type, axis lengths, control system, available fixtures and the environmental conditions — temperature stability and vibrations in particular.
If laser measurement is not feasible in your case, we will propose an alternative assessment scope.
What this service is not
CNC Laser is not an accredited calibration laboratory and does not issue calibration certificates. We deliver a technical report presenting the measured values and their interpretation. Compensation of errors in the control system is possible only within an individually agreed scope.
What you receive
A technical report with the measured positioning and repeatability data, a description of the measurement conditions and conclusions regarding the machine’s condition.
